Ingredients
500g wheat flour • 75g melted pork lard • 1 egg • 100ml aguardente velha • 2-3 tbsp orange juice • 5g yeast • Pinch of salt
Method
Mix the flour with the lard, adding the yeast, the egg, the aguardente, the salt and the orange juice until you get a smooth and homogenous dough, but not too soft • Let the dough rest and rise for 2 hours • Roll out the dough until nice and thin on a table dusted with flour and cut with a plain or crimped pastry-cutter into rectangles measuring approx. 10 x 8 cm • Make a few cuts in the interiors and deep fry in oil at 160-170ºC • Drain in a recipient lined with kitchen paper and dust with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon powder
